Vacuum Packaging

Vacuum packaging removes all the oxygen inside a package before the packaging is sealed. This method helps keep food fresh by sealing product in a thin film that has low oxygen permeability. This type of sealing is a type of modified atmosphere packaging (MAP).

Sun Packaging can assist you in determining what packaging machinery is right for you.

Modified Atmosphere Packaging (M.A.P)

M.A.P. packaging is a method of wrapping that can prolong the freshness and substantially extend the shelf life of a wide variety of consumables. During the process, CO2, nitrogen or a combination of the two are pumped into the package before it is sealed. These inert gasses displace much of the oxygen in the bag reducing (but not eliminating) oxidation, mold growth and bacteria.

Modified atmosphere packaging is sometimes combined with vacuum sealing to keep products fresh for even longer. Sun Packaging can help you determine which MAP system best meets your production requirements and your budget.

Horizontal Form/Fill/Seal

Horizontal flow pack packaging machines automatically produce closed packages with three seals from heat-sealable packaging material. This kind of package is normally employed for wrapping snack cakes, cookies and candies. Engineered to resolve the crucial challenges found in today’s market, user-friendly horizontal form fill and seal machines are optimized for operations demanding top performance, increased flexibility, greater efficiency and low maintenance costs.

With speeds ranging from 30 to 300 packs per minute, our range of flow wrappers are designed to incorporate advanced components and features while maintaining the flexibility to perform quick and easy product changeovers.

The versatility of these wrappers will allow you to package a vast range of food and non-food products, utilizing a wide variety of potential packaging materials (OPP, BOPP, PET, Nylon, Laminated HD-LDPE, and more in clear and print registered configurations).

Vertical Form/Fill/Seal

Vertical pouch machines produce the same kind of bag as horizontal f/f/s systems except vertical machines are, well, vertical. They are best for products that can’t be conveyed horizontally like peanuts, potato chips, sauces, stews, condiments and the like. Pouch fill and seal machines are often equipped with check-weigh scales and specialized conveyors to more easily integrate into existing production lines. They can even produce packages with spouts and other specialized dispensing appliances.

Other Type Of Food Packaging Machinery/Material

Companies producing edible products also use standard off-the-shelf machines like:

Shrink Bundling

If you’ve bought a case of bottled water from a club store, you’ve experienced shrink bundling. Poly bundlers use high strength polyethylene that is either clear or printed to unitize multiple products into one unified package.

Bottled water, soda, juice, soft drinks, pop and lots of other drinkable products are bundled, sometimes with a tray and sometimes not. Boxes of pasta, canned foods can be bundled too as can cleaning products like sanitizing wipes, bottles of hand sanitizer and scouring powder. The result is a package that gets from you to your customer in one piece at a fraction of the cost of corrugated boxes.

Our team will evaluate your current packaging to see how much money you can save.

Tray Sealers

Tray sealing machines, often referred to as lidding machines, are designed specifically for tray packaged goods such as fresh meal delivery, frozen dinners, meal delivery services and the like. They can also be used with MAP packaging to provide increased shelf life and prolonged freshness. From simple sandwich triangle machines to high speed full meal systems with automatic product dispensers, check weighers and x-ray safety systems, our specialists know what to do to get your product from the farm to the table.
