Three Ways to Save on Stretch Film Costs
At Sun Packaging Technologies, we know that our stretch film customers are always looking for ways to keep pallet load wrapping costs under control. As high oil prices cause increases in the cost of stretch films, we’re working with our clients and vendors to find ways to reduce wasteful over-wrapping, take advantage of stretch wrapping technology improvements, and find ideal stretch wrap films to match our clients’ needs. Creating stable, economical pallet load wrapping solutions while controlling costs is a goal Sun Packaging shares with our clients and vendors. Our expert packaging consultants are always available to help you achieve maximum results and cost-effectiveness for your stretch wrapping needs. Some of the latest solutions for improving stretch wrapping operations include:
Sigma Stretch Film “Rite-Gauging™” Helps Select Optimum Film Gauges
Selecting the right film gauge is crucial to maximum cost-effectiveness in stretch film usage. Choosing too light a film gauge means over-wrapping and waste while selecting a gauge that is too heavy means unnecessarily higher film costs.
“Rite-Gauging” is the application of the correct film, thickness, overlap, revolutions, and force-to-load factors that ensure equal containment force to the top, middle, and bottom of the pallet and load. “Rite-Gauging” sets containment standards that are measurable, repeatable and cost-effective when measured by wrapping cost per pallet. By reducing risk and variance from pallet to pallet, “Rite-Gauging™” assures secure pallet loads with high levels of consistency and economy.
At Sun Packaging, we’ll be happy to work with you to establish wrapping standards for your typical loads and to help you select the right Sigma Stretch Films to meet those standards, load after load.
Lantech Pallet Grip -Technology Means Secure Loads Without Over-Wrapping
Millions of loads slide off their pallets each year during shipment. The losses and waste from this cause add up to billions of dollars each year. Lantech’s Pallet Grip - is a key feature of Lantech’s money-saving LeanWrap - technology, and is available on new Lantech stretch wrapping equipment and can be retrofitted to many existing Lantech stretch wrapping systems.
The Pallet Grip - system rolls 4”-6” of film into a high strength durable cable, which overlaps the pallet by about 1.5”, securing the wrapped load from sliding off the pallet. This cable clears forklift openings, and won’t break on the corners of the pallet. The rest of the load is wrapped normally. With slippage prevented, losses are reduced and costly over-wrapping is avoided. The result is reliable, cost-effective stretch wrapping that assures load stability and helps prevent losses due to slippage.
Sun Packaging is proud to offer Lantech Pallet Grip - technology to our stretch wrap customers, both on new Lantech equipment and as a retrofit option for existing Lantech stretch wrap machinery. Contact us for more information.
Hand Stretch Wrapping Savings with Sigma Supreme & ecoSupreme Films
With the lowest case cost, ultra-light weight and high load holding strength, Sigma’s Supreme and ecoSupreme films are Sigma’s newest premium grade stretch films for hand wrapping. Made with special orientation that produces stronger films at thinner gauges, these ultra-light weight rolls also make both Sigma films easier to handle. By reducing fatigue, even for workers with small stature, better wrapping is easier to accomplish.
Engineered to outperform other thin gauge films, ecoSupreme stretch film has reinforced edges for high load-holding force and tear resistance. This makes ecoSupreme light gauge stretch films strong enough even for B and C loads. Sigma’s low case costs and high strength reduce on-the-load costs by requiring less film for every load. The result is big savings for hand film users.
